MedPlant Conference 6-7 February 2017. Hosted by Jürg Gertsch for University of Bern.

An agenda for medicinal plants research for the future

Welcome to the 2-day MedPlant Conference in Bern 6.-7. Feb. 2017. The conference will include talks from both MedPlant fellows and invited speakers. The conference is hosted and organised by MedPlant and Prof. Jürg Gertsch, University of Bern.

MedPlant is a Marie Curie Initial Training Network (ITN), coordinated by the University of Copenhagen, and funded by the European Union under the 7th Framework Program 2013-2017, supporting a new generation of science researchers in exploring the evolution and sustainable use of medicinal plant diversity for unmet medical needs.

Through a training network of 15 young scientists, our research develops new interdisciplinary approaches and technologies for selection and sustainable use of biodiversity resources for drug lead discovery from plants. It is the aim of MedPlant to inspire appreciation of the Worlds biodiversity and the need to protect and study it, and we hope that ultimately it will increase the number of new drugs brought to the market.

The 25 MedPlant partners include leading European research groups, private companies, and public and non-public organisations.

At this by invitation only conference, the MedPlant Fellows and network partners will present the results of MedPlant and discuss a new agenda for medicinal plant research for the future. The conference is also a great opportunity for extending the legacy of MedPlant through invitation of external research collaborators and young scientists in the field, who will also be able to present their own work.

If you want present your research as a short talk or as a poster, sent a title and an abstract of max 200 words to Mette Wenøe: by 6 January 2016. Registration closes January 6th with a maximum of 80 participants.

The conference will be held at the main building of Bern University and the registration fee of 250 SFr will cover lunch both days, conference dinner, coffee breaks, poster session and the invitation of key-note speakers. Deadline for registration and payment is 6 January 2017. Please contact Mette if you want to participate but have difficulties meeting the deadline.
