Position: PhD-stud., Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Iceland
I got my Bachelor’s degree in Food Sciences from Northwest Agriculture & Forestry University, Yangling, China, where I was brought into the world of plant foods. Later on, I acquired advanced knowledge in Food Chemistry during my Master’s study in University of Helsinki, Finland, where I built up a special interest in natural product chemistry, especially phytochemistry.
I was trained in the following areas:
- Isolation and structural characterization of berry phenolics and lipophilic vitamins,
- Isolation, physical modification and characterization of cereal polysaccharides and
- Analysis of lipid and protein oxidation in bulk oil and emulsion models.
Why did you want to become part of MedPlant?
MedPlant projects well fit my research experience, interest and career goal, and I believe joining this network will bring me a rewarding life.
What do you hope to achieve as part of MedPlant?
I hope to carry out some cell culture studies complementary to my project.
What do you hope to do after MedPlant?
I hope to continue my research in phytochemistry and extend to the area of synergy effects of herbal drug combinations.
